WT Partnership has affirmed its position as a leader in the delivery of quantity surveying, cost management, facilities management and cost engineering in the stadia and sports sectors with recent appointments on two key sports projects in Australia: the New Perth Stadium in Western Australia and the Simonds Stadium Stage 4 Redevelopment in Victoria.
The New Perth Stadium (NPS) will sit in the heart of Perth’s new Sports Precinct and will have the capacity to seat 60,000 patrons on match day. Once completed the Stadium will be state of the art, with extensive future proofing technology, two 250 m² giant screens, over 1,000 public TVs, over 70 food and beverage outlets and the ability, if required, to increase seating capacity to 70,000 within the existing structure. The project construction value is in excess of $860 million.
In addition to the Stadium works, there will be extensive site works and development to the surrounding sports precinct to ensure year round activation of the area, as well as extensive upgrade of existing transport links. The transport infrastructure works include a new six platform train station, new pedestrian bridge spanning the Swan River, and modifications of the existing road and rail links.
The project will be delivered under a PPP contract with the WESTSTADIUM consortium being appointed in 2014 to build, finance and maintain the new stadium. It is intended that the stadium will be fully operational by early 2018.
WT Partnership has had a long association with the Stadium, having previously assisted the State government’s team with initial cost planning advice at the PDP stage. During the tender stage WT Partnership’s Laurie Thomas, Gavin Balharrie and Adam Adkin provided Financial Technical Due Diligence Reporting and Facilities Management review services to one of the short listed consortiums. During the construction phase WT Partnership is assisting Savills Project Management with Independent Certifier and Financial Certifier services to the Project Co.
In Victoria our team has been appointed by Geelong Football Club to provide cost planning and construction cost management services for the Stage 4 Redevelopment of the Club’s home ground, Simonds Stadium.
The redevelopment includes the demolition of the existing Brownlow and Jennings Stands on the western side of the stadium and the possible demolition of the Bob Davis Entry Gate, Cats Shop and Membership Shop and construction of a new stand to include increased levels of undercover spectator seating, a new Social Club, new training, administration and player facilities.
New media and broadcast facilities form part of Stage 4 as well as function rooms and the Sunrise Centre aimed at enabling and assisting people with disabilities to return to work.
This commission extends on our previous work at the Stadium providing post contract financial management for the Stage 3 Redevelopment and full quantity surveying services for the construction of Australian Broadcast compliant light towers.
