Chelsea Wood, one of our outstanding cadets in the Brisbane office, was recently awarded the Queensland University wide National Association for Women in Construction (NAWIC) scholarship. Presented by Tony Avsec, Co-chair of the NAWIC Education & Mentoring committee, Chelsea’s fantastic submission on EMPOWERING WOMEN TODAY FOR AN EQUAL TOMORROW stood out to judges in her well researched essay addressing the question; ‘How do we increase the participation rate for women in engineering and construction, including selection as a career in high school, completing university studies and staying beyond having a family?’ (Chelsea’s essay can be read on the NAWIC Qld facebook here)

Applications were based on academic performance as well as leadership capabilities. The award was presented at the NAWIC Annual Networking event held on the 26th July 2016. As part of her scholarship, Chelsea will be involved with the NAWIC mentoring programme and assisting at committee meetings.

Congratulations Chelsea. Well deserved.
