Project Value:

WT was initially engaged by The University of Sydney in a peer review exercise of the Centre for Obesity, Diabetes and Cardiovascular Disease project as it was initially known. WT replaced the original Cost Manager for the project and undertook cost management services from the cost planning stage through to tender documentation. Upon tendering the project Brookfield Multiplex was awarded the project on a full Design and Construct basis with WT providing post contract construction advice, life cycle costing, asset management and post construction services. The project was renamed as the Charles Perkins Centre.

The building will reinvigorate the western end of the Camperdown Campus, and its location will foster collaboration and multidisciplinary research. It will be connected to the adjacent Centenary Institute and benefit from its proximity to the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and the faculties of Medicine, Science and Veterinary Science.

The facility provides research and education spaces to support diverse disciplinary mix spanning enabling sciences, biomedical sciences, bioinformatics and computational biology, clinical research and social and behavioural sciences.

The completed building houses world-class facilities that cover around 50,000 m², including over 16,000 m² of ‘wet’ and ‘dry’ laboratory space.
