Project Description

Gary Mayor

State Director

With extensive experience in high end commercial buildings and large sporting facilities Gary has the ability to deliver the best project outcomes.

Gary’s experience on commercial and sporting facilities is extensive. With 15 years working in the UK on large commercial sites, he came to Australia to work with WT in 1996 working on the Olympic Games infrastructure, Stadiums and Westfield Shopping Centres.

Gary assisted on the Barangaroo Delivery Authority from the early phase of demolition, the delivery of the White Bay passenger terminal through to Independent QS for remediation.

Gary recently completed 60 Martin Place, a premium grade commercial building in Sydney for Investa.

Most recently Gary was the cost advisor for INSW for the $1.6B Stadium rollout including Sydney Football Stadium and Stadium Australia, the latter of which did not proceed due to COVID.

Speaking on his sports & stadia experience, Gary says:

“Following my passion for Rugby Union and having played at a representative level in the UK and in some of the UKs venues, sports will always be part of my DNA; and the ability to come to work and be involved in these state-of-the-art sporting facilities, it couldn’t be any better.

It gets even better when you’re working cooperatively with all of the leading sports facility designers in Australia who are also International; and you get to form a great understanding/working relationship with them.

Not only that, but then being invited to join our teams on the international ventures as well as national, it becomes even more exciting.

I’ve always been a big supporter of a team culture were working together for a common goal, increases the enjoyment and efficiency of the delivery process.

Having originally come from a construction background, on site delivering premium facilities in the UK and then being able to have that experience when I joined WT and applying what I learnt to these facilities, with a professional and builders “hat” on, makes this even more satisfying.”
