The Hopkin’s Correctional Centre is an expansion on the pre-existing Ararat Prison, which has bolstered the facilities’ capacity to house medium security male inmates and provide them with brand new medical, education, visitor, and recreation centres. It also provides enhanced opportunities for administrative support and was delivered to the Department of Justice with a project value of $400 million.

We were the Independent Reviewer for the project in 2012, operating between government and the administrator. This role involved collaboration with multiple other stakeholders, including Aegis Consortium, St Hilliers Construction, and Hawkins, whereby our PPP service enhanced the project’s outcome.

The PPP service amplified the efficiencies of the project and significantly reduced delivery times. It also allowed for greater innovation, which transferred risk away from the associated government bodies and minimised the amount of upfront funding borrowed – lessening the level of caution associated.

As a result, the infrastructure delivered in line with our PPP service has the capacity to bolster Australia’s development standards, creating an international flare – regardless of whether the project is a public community space frequented by travellers or a facility like The Hopkins Correctional Centre.
