The Port of Melbourne is Australia’s largest container and general cargo port, handling around 37% of the nation’s container trade.

More than forty shipping lines make around 3,500 ship calls a year to Melbourne, providing services to ports in all major parts of the world.

In addition to our role in the Port of Melbourne Corporation’s Infrastructure Division working on the organisation’s capital works program, WT has also provided full cost planning and quantity surveying services to the Port Capacity Program, which is currently in the Construction phase.

The project includes construction of a new container terminal at Webb Dock East, New Automotive terminal at Webb Dock West, Automotive PDI Facilities and infrastructure upgrades to Swanson Dock.

WT has provided:

  • Estimating and project cost advice for wharf construction, dredging, civil works and buffers (Our estimates formed part of the PoMC business case which was approved by the Victorian State Government).
  • WT also provided pre-tender estimates and tender analysis on the roads and services and maritime packages (including providing bills of quantities and detailed tender schedules for tender analysis/cost management purposes)
  • Project Cost Management including Contract administration on the Roads and Services contract and Maritime Contract
  • Monthly Cost reporting on the project (against budget, approvals and commitments – current and forecast) including Earned Value analysis support, Cashflow forecasting for the duration of the project (for funding management) and PoMC Finance department support
