Gavin’s approach to projects is characterised by a strong emphasis on close collaboration with project teams and consultants. This philosophy is driven by his belief that such collaboration can unlock significant benefits for clients. His expertise lies in effective communication and collaboration, where he challenges budgets and provides proactive cost management advice.
One of Gavin’s key strengths in quantity surveying is his proficiency in tender documentation and the preparation of bills of quantities. This skill set has consistently led to success in leading teams on large and complex developments. His meticulous attention to detail during the design and tender documentation stages is crucial for optimising the tender process and ensuring the best outcomes for clients.
With a proven track record in delivering large and complex projects, Gavin has particularly excelled in Defence projects such as Fishermans Bend, as well as Sport and Stadia projects like the MCG Northern Stand Redevelopment, Kardinia Park (Geelong), and Perth Stadium. He has also demonstrated success in Public Housing, Residential, Build-to-Rent (BTR), and Student Accommodations, where he has engaged in complex contract negotiations as part of Early Contractor involvement roles with builders.
Having joined WT’s Graduate Training Program in 1994, Gavin’s commitment and expertise were recognised, leading to his appointment as a Director in 2018. In late 2023, he was appointed the National Defence Sector Lead, showcasing his leadership skills in bringing together a stellar national team of experts. This team focuses on delivering digitally enabled cost intelligence that inspires confidence across all stages of a project life cycle. Given the critical expansion of the Defence sector, Gavin’s role is instrumental in ensuring success in this sector.
