Leading international project advisory firm WT has been engaged by Transport for NSW to provide cost estimation services for the Western Sydney Freight Line and Intermodal Terminal (Stage 1) project, a critical initiative to boost rail freight capacity and support the efficient movement of goods across Greater Sydney.
WT’s scope includes preparing whole-of-life cost estimates during the Definition Design and Concept Design stages, as well as the delivery of quantitative cost risk analysis and embodied carbon calculations. This comprehensive approach will help ensure the project achieves cost certainty, risk resilience, and sustainability outcomes.
Sam Mendoza, National Infrastructure Lead at WT Australia, said the appointment reflects WT’s trusted role in shaping major transport infrastructure projects.
“We’re proud to be supporting Transport for NSW on a project that will play such a vital role in strengthening Sydney’s freight network. By combining rigorous cost estimation with robust risk analysis and carbon assessments, we help ensure this project delivers long-term value for the state and its communities.”
Once complete, the Western Sydney Freight Line and Intermodal Terminal project will provide a dedicated freight corridor, improving the efficiency of rail freight operations, reducing road congestion, and supporting the economic growth of Western Sydney and beyond.
