As international trade continues to accelerate, the Port of Brisbane has emerged as one of Australia’s fastest growing container ports, playing a critical role in Queensland’s economic development.

Located at the mouth of the Brisbane River, the new Brisbane Container Park significantly enhances the port’s capacity, ensuring it can meet the increasing demands of global commerce and support the rising volume of key commodities.

With Brisbane preparing to host the 2032 Olympic Games, the city is positioned for a period of major economic opportunity. The new container park, developed by ESR for DP World, strengthens local infrastructure and signals Queensland’s readiness to welcome increased trade, logistics and investment.

Delivering a future-focused freight facility

As part of DP World’s state-of-the-art Brisbane Container Park, the new facility at 15 Whimbrel Street, Fisherman Island, spans a gross leasable area of over 102,000 square metres. The development includes the design and construction of a comprehensive freight distribution hub comprising a hardstand for container storage and truck parking, a high bay workshop, an office building, wash bay, fumigation pads, reefer charging points, fuel tank and pump station, along with various ancillary facilities. Additional features include carparking, internal access roads and landscaped areas, all designed to support high-volume freight and logistics operations within a secure and efficient site layout.

Enabling efficient delivery and creating long-term value

WT was engaged by ESR to provide cost management and quantity surveying services across the development. Our scope includes financier reporting to support funding assurance, preparation of tax depreciation schedules, development of an asset register, and a detailed condition report – all aimed at positioning the facility for long-term operational success and value optimisation. Our team’s insights and reporting have played a key role in promoting transparency and alignment among stakeholders.

As Brisbane’s logistics landscape continues to evolve, the DP World freight distribution facility represents a critical addition to the state’s trade infrastructure. By enhancing capacity and operational efficiency at the Port of Brisbane, the project supports Queensland’s long-term economic growth and strengthens its position in the global supply chain.
