The manufacturing sector is undergoing a significant transformation driven by new technologies and automation. To meet the demand for advanced skills in Industry 4.0, the Queensland Government announced the development of the Robotics and Advanced Manufacturing Centre (RAMC) at Eagle Farm TAFE as part of its Big Build program.

This $47.7 million investment is a critical step in preparing Queensland’s workforce for the future of manufacturing, renewable energy, and telecommunications.

Building technical skills in a sustainable setting

RAMC is designed to deliver specialised training in robotics, advanced manufacturing, process instrumentation, hydrogen and solar technologies, and telecommunications. Featuring cutting-edge robotics workshops, digital laboratories, and electrotechnology spaces, alongside modern learning areas and student amenities, the centre aims to set a new benchmark for technical education facilities.

Designed by Gray Puksand, the building targets a 5-star Green Star rating, supporting long-term decarbonisation goals. Sustainable initiatives integrated into the project include solar energy generation, mixed-mode ventilation, rainwater harvesting, the use of reduced-carbon materials, and the expansion of green spaces, ensuring that environmental responsibility underpins the centre’s operations.

Ensuring budgetary precision for a cutting-edge facility

WT has been engaged since 2022 to provide comprehensive cost management and quantity surveying services for the RAMC project. Our role has involved close collaboration with project partners, delivering pre-contract estimating and feasibility studies, as well as post-contract services including progress claim assessments and variation management to monitor costs and ensure the project remains on budget.

Completed in 2025, the project maintained strong budgetary discipline with our support, helping deliver the Queensland Government’s vision for a future-ready, sustainable training hub.
