Fiona Stanley Hospital is a world-class tertiary healthcare facility located in Perth’s south metropolitan region. Developed as Western Australia’s flagship hospital, it was established in response to the region’s rapidly growing population and increasing strain on existing health infrastructure.
The hospital delivers advanced, patient-centred care while seamlessly integrating specialist clinical services, research, and teaching within a single, comprehensive facility. With 783 beds, 18 operating theatres, and a broad spectrum of acute and complex medical services, Fiona Stanley Hospital plays a critical role in the delivery of health services across the state.
WT provided cost management and quantity surveying services to the Western Australian Department of Treasury and Finance throughout the project’s lifecycle. Our team ensured cost certainty, financial transparency, and value-for-money outcomes at every stage – from early planning and design through to construction and final delivery.
Construction commenced in 2009 on what was, at the time, the largest building project ever undertaken by the Western Australian Government. With a budget of $2 billion, the development encompassed a main hospital tower, mental health facility, State rehabilitation service, education and research precinct, pathology laboratories, and multiple public car parks, spread across a 32-hectare site.
Fiona Stanley Hospital officially opened in 2014, completed on time and within budget. Today, it stands as a benchmark for modern healthcare infrastructure in Australia, exemplifying the impact of strategic planning, innovative design, and disciplined cost management in delivering complex public infrastructure projects.
