National Australia Bank’s (NAB) Melbourne office at 395 – 405 Bourke Street exemplifies choice, flexibility and connection in the workplace.

Occupying the entirety of the building, NAB required a large-scale fitout across 33 floors to create an A Grade Premium office environment to support collaboration and wellbeing.

Designing for collaboration and wellbeing

Hassell purposefully designed the workplace to encourage collaboration between colleagues, clients and partners. The building offers a mix of settings that range from open team spaces for connection through to individual focus zones. A dedicated client floor reinforces NAB’s commitment to customer relationships, while a wellbeing floor provides multi-faith prayer rooms and multipurpose fitness studios to staff. Sustainability was a core priority, with abundant natural light and greenery integrated into the open-plan design.

Supporting the vision with rigorous cost management

In 2016, NAB engaged WT to deliver cost management and quantity surveying services for the workplace transformation. Our involvement spanned the entire lifecycle of the project, from developing the business case through to final completion and handover activities in 2022. Throughout the project, we delivered detailed cost planning, value management and financial oversight, ensuring NAB achieved its vision for a premium workplace within budget and to the highest standards.

Delivering a workplace built for tomorrow

The result is a future-focused workplace that balances functionality, sustainability and employee wellbeing. By bringing together design innovation and rigorous cost management, NAB’s Melbourne Bourke Street office now stands as a flagship workplace that supports both business performance and the needs of its people.
