A major Australian power station is set to transition into an integrated low-carbon industrial energy hub.

The current high voltage network on site wasn’t suitable for its new role of supporting an energy hub, requiring it to be reconfigured while still maintaining power to the operational elements of the station through the transition. The works included high voltage transformers, cables, conduit and trenching, and both high voltage and low voltage switchboards.

WT was brought on board by our client WSP to provide expert advice on capital cost estimating for the project business case. The project required specialist electrical knowledge, and with a dedicated mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) team, we were able to bring our expertise and knowledge of systems to ensure accurate costings.

We were also able to go beyond expectations and price the entirety of the works and, in collaboration with the design engineer, package the scope into stages to fit within annual spending budgets.

Our contribution has enabled WSP to continue to advise their client on the design and technical considerations of the power station transition project.
