The M6 Stage 1 will deliver the missing link from Sydney’s south to the wider Sydney motorway network making journeys easier, faster, and safer. It will remove more than 2,000 trucks a day from surface roads and help return local streets to local communities.
The scope of works include twin four kilometre tunnels linking the new M5 Motorway at Arncliffe to President Avenue at Kogarah, the construction of tunnel stubs for a future south connection, a new intersection at President Avenue, new shared cycle and pedestrian pathways and minor adjustments to local roads.
WT provided construction cost estimating services for the Initial Optioneering and Concept Design phases of the project, including cost advice for capital expenditure, constructability, risk modelling, cashflow and escalation, and whole of life costs. Our successful participation in providing construction costs and risk advice contributed towards approval to continue design development.
Latterly, WT provided Peer Review services at Final Business Case and Pre-Tender Estimate stages ensuring the cost estimates aligned with TfNSW guidelines and Industry’s Best Practices and producing over twenty recommendations to improve the estimates.
