Investment in elite and community sport is shaping Tasmania’s sporting future, with major upgrades across the state driving high‑performance success and supporting the next generation of talent.
A key part of this momentum is the new Tasmania JackJumpers and the Jewels High Performance Training Centre in Kingston, Tasmania, which will deliver state‑of‑the‑art facilities for the Tasmanian NBL and WNBL teams while also opening its doors to the community. The centre forms a significant addition to the broader Kingborough Sports Precinct in Kingston, strengthening the region’s sporting infrastructure and creating new pathways for participation and development.
The $15 million 3,400m² facility is purpose‑built to support elite training and recovery whilst providing community access for court use. It includes two dedicated indoor training courts, a show court overlay, International Basketball Federation (FIBA) level 1 engineered sports floors and related facilities, a retail merchandise store for fans, comprehensive player facilities featuring a world-class gymnasium, sauna and wet recovery zone, and team administration offices that bring operations under one roof. Together, these spaces will enhance performance for professional athletes while offering high‑quality amenities for local clubs and community programs.
Delivering cost confidence through every stage
WT was engaged from project inception to provide cost management and quantity surveying services. From the start, we worked closely with the project team to develop robust cost planning within budget expectations.
Our team also produced pre- tender estimates for the client to support funding requirements and provide clarity throughout the development process. In parallel, we provided market advice to inform the procurement strategy.
Construction commenced in June 2025, with completion expected in mid‑2026. Our role has focused on giving the client certainty, supporting strong financial stewardship, and ensuring the project remains aligned to its objectives as it transitioned from planning to delivery. WT has made a significant contribution to the delivery of the project, providing sound and timely advice to support informed decision-making throughout the fast-paced program.
Once complete, the Tasmania JackJumpers and Jewels High Performance Training Centre will strengthen Tasmania’s sporting landscape and create lasting community value, providing a home for both elite performance and grassroots development for years to come.
