WT was commissioned by GHD, on behalf of Sunwater, to undertake a cost estimate for the preliminary design for the Paradise Dam Spillway Improvement Project.

Paradise Dam is located approximately 20 km north-west of Biggenden and 80 km south-west of Bundaberg on the Burnett River. It is a key component of the Bundaberg Water Supply Scheme, holding up to 300,000 ML of water for the City of Bundaberg and farmland irrigation.

WT was contracted to provide the following services in relation to the Paradise Dam Spillway Improvement Project, cost estimation.

  • Option analysis as part of the business case
  • Pre-tender estimate for the 5m and 10m lowering as an interim measure
  • Additional studies of options to strengthen the dam and provide alternate storage capacities.
  • Underwater demolition of structures associated with strengthening options.
