WT provided full quantity surveying services to Monash University for the construction of their new Green Chemical Futures (GCF) building.

The 5 star GreenStar 10,000 m2 science building at the University’s Clayton campus houses over 100 chemists and engineers and allows the growth of basic science research to targeted industry driven research. It has 17 specialist sectors, training programmes for industry practitioners and new laboratory spaces for over 1,000 students and 100 industry partners.

The lower levels of the building contain teaching and learning spaces and the upper floors house research and translational facilities, with double-height foyer and voids spaces linking the levels and collaboration spaces throughout.

The project is co-located with neighbouring buildings containing sensitive equipment requiring design and construction to limit vibration transmission during construction.

At feasibility stage our team rigorously tested the budget and conducted extensive research on decanting issues, impact on adjacent buildings and special equipment to ensure all factors related to the project were properly costed.
