The Southbank by Beulah skyscraper will be the tallest in the Southern Hemisphere.

The concept by UN Studio and Cox Architecture was the winner of an international competition to design a mixed-use landmark tower in Melbourne’s Southbank.

The development comprises a two-tower design with a twisting form featuring balconies and terraces nestled in the curves of the facade.

The taller tower consists of both residential and hotel residences, reaching a height of 356 metres with a publicly accessible garden on top.

The shorter tower will be home to a hotel and commercial space, with a total height of 252 metres.

In total the development will host:

  • Four distinct collections of private residences
  • 35,000sqm of commercial offices; a 220-key five star urban resort
  • 6,600sqm of conference, auditorium and entertainment facilities
  • A children’s play centre and kid care facilities
  • A health and wellness precinct
  • 30,000sqm of world class experiential retail including the BMW Experience Centre
  • 7,250sqm of public green spaces including the Future Sky Garden.

We are currently providing full quantity surveying services for the project which is due for completion in 2026.

We were also involved in the initial international design competition, assessing all shortlisted designs on behalf of the client/jury.

Cost, Value and Design Efficiency (economic and cost outcomes) were one of the 9 evaluation criterions in order to award a winner.
